May 18, 2010 Board Meeting Agenda Item #11 Title APPROVAL OF CONTRACT TO EXCHANGE PROPERTY ON ORANGE AVENUE Description As part of the rebuild of Booker High School, the district has been working with the school's immediate neighbors and the City of Sarasota to realign Orange Avenue so that it goes around, rather then through, the campus.  As the civil engineers designed the new roadway and the Design Team examined various site plan options, it became apparent that much could be gained by exchanging property at the northeast corner of Orange Avenue and 35th Street. If approved, Orange Avenue will be designed in such a way as to save the project considerable costs, and the bus loop and parking for the theater will be improved. Recommendation That the School Board approve the contract to exchange property, including an additional payment, at the intersection of Orange Avenue and 35th Street, Sarasota.
